Minoxidil

MINOXIDIL (ROGAINE)

Minoxidil is a topical solution that has to be applied directly on the scalp. It is available in various concentrations – 10% & 5 % for men and 2% for women. The exact mode of action of minoxidil is not known, but it seems to increase hair follicle growth duration. It also improves miniaturization of hair as this increases diameter of fine hair. This works best on vertex and does not work at all on the totally bald scalp without any hair follicles.
